World Conflict II veteran celebrates 98th birthday in Columbus


Veterans’ Outreach hosted a birthday celebration for Joe Lavinger on the American Legion on Demorest Highway on Monday.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A World Conflict II veteran obtained to rejoice his 98th birthday in Columbus Monday night.

Veterans’ Outreach hosted the birthday celebration for Joe Lavinger on the American Legion on Demorest Highway.

Lavinger was a minesweeper on the seashores of Normandy throughout the warfare.

Afterward, he turned an entertainer for 56 years. So it is no shock he entertained at his birthday celebration doing the macarena for everybody.

When Lavinger was requested the way it felt to show 98, he mentioned he could not wait to get to that age.

“I had a dream that I used to be going to be 98 and I used to be going to have numerous ladies round me on a regular basis. That is why I like 98,” Lavinger mentioned with a chuckle.

Lavinger’s spouse was there to rejoice with him. The 2 have been married for 45 years.
